Battery light

My '95 325i's battery light comes on when I switch on ignition. It remains on when engine is running. I have just replaced the brush/regulator switch in alternator, but it still does the same. I checked the ground/earth cable between engine and chassis and it seems fine.
Any suggestions? I want to stay away from dealers, etc.

Thanx

 - might just be bad connections somewhere if u replaced all that - but what u replaced might just be faulty dont rule that out, have you checked if its charging correctly.

There is probably another fault in the alternator. could be a loose wire or blown diode inside the alternator, the brush reg pack is only half the system.

Thanx, can these diodes be replaced by one self, or autolec only, and where will one find it?

You would have to remove and open the alternator, they are inside.

Thanx for your help. Any idea where one can get hold of these diodes?
