Battery for E90 330i

Hi guys

I need to replace the battery on my E90 330i.
It is a 90Ah 720A battery.

Anyone know where I can get one at a good price?
Also, do I just remove the old one and fit the new one?
Will I have to reset anything?

I am in the Midrand area, but willing to drive around for a good deal.

Regards
Vicky

Hey dude,

Any battery place will do. I think there is a battery clinic in midrand

http://batteryclinic.co.za/services

You just pop the battery out and replace, you will prob have to re-configure you clock and settings, maybe radio saved stations.

Other guys here may have more info.

When I replaced the battery on my E46, i actually paid only R50 more at BMW for the correct battery, to what Battery Centre was charging me on a RayLite battery, so maybe call bmw and ask them if they can do you deal. :thumb:

Battery clinic in Midrand quoted R1359.

Still waiting on other quotes before I go to the dealer...

Do you know if battery centre midrand quoted you on an AGM or silver calcium? quite a big price difference.
IMO - AGM is the best considering where the battery is situated.

Yes, you will have to register the new battery to the car. Its not a train smash if you don't do it immediately, but it will affect the battery life and charging rates.

Any decent diagnostic tool should be able to do it

@"CA_130" , bought my car in July 2016 and within the first week had to replace the battery, at that time i have never known that we need to register the battery, so i never bothered. The battery is still doing fine and never had any strange issues, the car in question s a 125i ( E82 ) 2009 model, is it needed with these cars too ?

On my recent research on this also having to change the Battery on my F30 330d, the AGM is definitely better in its longevity but is more for cars with the stop/start function, really don't think AGM is necessary on an E90

So 'needed' is a strong word, recommended is more like it.

It is needed when you change battery type, or battery size to prevent long term 'damage' to the battery like overcharging and undercharging, and also to ensure the correct charge characteristics are applied. If you replace your battery like for like, you can get away without doing it.

long story short, you don't really neeeeeeed it, but do it if you can.

I recall reading an article a while back which explains how the IBS works in BMWs, will see if I can find it and post the link here.

So I'm currently researching battery replacement as well on my LCI 330i. The agents want R5200 for a battery then registering it to the car is extra. Battery centre says my battery is borderline at the moment.

I've been calling around and the average rate is between 2-3.5k. If your car takes an AGM battery it's more. Luckily for me my car doesn't.

So yeah, still shopping around but I'm looking at getting a Varta or Deltec.

Not sure if you still looking for a battery... I replaced my e90 325i LCI battery at Bekkers battery center in Langlaagte...if im not mistaken it was about 2k
