morning all

so after i have finally sorted my no boost issue on my car another gremlin creeps in.

if my car stands over night the following morning the battery is totally flat and i am unable to start the car.I have to jump start the car to get it going but even when doing this it takes a long while before it actually starts. there is no tracker in the car that can be draining the battery.

So can someone please point me the right direction to start looking to solve my dilemma.

Hi, what model do you have?

There was a post not to long ago of some one who said their problem was the alternator, have you done a current draw test?
Need to connect an ammeter and start disconnecting components, just wait till it is in sleep mode (start/stop light goes off) to get correct reading.

the alternator was replaced roughly 3 months ago with a brand new unit and a new battery was put in about 2 months prior to that

i guess i will have to go see an auto electrician then

Used to have the same issue with the X5 after purchasing a new battery for it. But after a while it stopped.

Hope you manage to sort your problem out soon mate.

I had a similar issue with one of my previous cars (not a BM). If you don't have a tracking device installed, maybe check if there's something else that should be running on its own independent battery which gets charged by your car battery when the car is running, maybe that devices battery is faulty and is pulling power from your battery while your car is switched off. (Look at the alarm system, maybe) Also if you bought this car from someone else, they could have installed a tracking device which was not removed before handing the car over to you.

Final stage units on the E46 BMWs were notorious for this when it went wonky.
Not sure if this was the case with the E90s.

You could pull some fuses which are relevant before you park her off to determine which component is drawing current overnight. Naturally this would take time as you can't pull all out at one go :)

Myself and another fanatic found the parasitic drain on his car. Took us about two hours to find it with the use of a multimeter. What takes long is waiting for the car to go into sleep mode. If you wish you could bring it around to me and we can have a go at finding the issue.
