So the time came for me to change the battery on My F25 X3.
After shopping around and having received a great deal as always, i decided to go for an oem Battery from BMW Midrand. After paying and collecting, i had a look to check what is the brand that Bmw is now using.
To my Dismay Bmw oem now uses First National battery's. I was quite disappointed as i rather would have spent the same amount on a Varta or at the worse, Energizer which i have used previously, and Bmw used to use Varta. So only time can tell how long the battery will last. At least i now have new battery and know i wont get stranded anywhere any time soon.
I was then quoted to R950 just to resister the battery. Thats when i thought let me call a workshop that i had read about on a thread here, when i was reseraching aircon not working.
Ever since i bought my car, the passenger side never got cold, and my side of thecar the cold was not constant. Upon purchasing the car they claimed they regassed the air-con system. So i thought lets kill two birds with one stone.
Drove to Pit tech Auto. What great service from Giani, and Fanie who dod the owrk on the car. They regsitered the battery for R350.
Then came the aircon.
A proper aircon service consists of taking a reading of the current amount of gas and refigerant. Then everything is drained out, then refiled, A leak is conducted by the machine. If this passes then the process is reapeted. Apparently on the F25 there are 3 possible amounts of refigerigant. The highest amount was put in. Same result, in fact even less cold air coming out the drivers side. At this point i thought dam, here comes the replacement of the aircon compressor.
Fanie then said hold on, lets try the second amount. Low and behold ice cold air! From every vent. Its like a got a new car lol.
Apparenly if the current amount is not present, the compressor does not kick in.
So for any one else who has this same issue with their aircon, def try do a proper regas before all else.
