Baby in for "surgical procedure"!

My baby's in "hospital" for plastic surgery! Took her in this morning and left her all alone in the cold, stark, industrial environment, of the panel shop! Driving there, I had to constantly reassure her that everything was going to be just fine. She'll look brand new and years younger, once the "surgery" is over, in about a week and half and R35K, from now. I promissed to take her on a long cruise, once she's out of "hospital". Hope she holds no grudges and causes major, expensive problems after this, but I trust that my pep talk and gentle nipple rubbing, this morning helped! I wish I could afford to install a set of nice big "tits" (xenons) to her....maybe later! :bawling:

Funny thing is, you cannot see the damage from above! It's all Tupperware from below, things like fenderline covers, splashtrays, covers, gearbox protection covers, centre grille insert, etc. One spotlight and door dent repair included. @calypso, it has gone in to Denys Edwardes, apparently the only BMW approved repair shop.

Wynand, if you save R10k or R15k by taking it to a 'non-approved' shop (but still an accredited insurance shop...), do you think you will lose that amount of money on the resale just because the shop wasn't 'bmw-approved'?

The problem is that the part prices are the same at all the panel shops. There was only a few bucks difference between the quotes I got, so the assessor opted for the BMW approved shop, not my choice! I also trust these guys more as they fixed a previous car of mine.......funny story, I parked the car on quite a steep slope and engaged the handbrake, but took it out of gear for some reason....walked away and when I was about 50 metres away, the car started running, backwards, down hill. I ran after it, but could not catch it. It moered the corner of a garen wall in the middle of the rear of the car, in fact the tow hitch probably took most of the impact! The boot and rear bumper was folded in a huge "VEE", almost touching the rear window and these guys fixed it so well that you could not see anything! I sold the car without even telling the buyer! (Naughty boy!):hammerhead:

Ok, but then again, if this surgical procedure is brought to you with the kind compliments of your friendly insurance company...SMOKE 'EM!!!

Doing just that! I've added a few chips and a windscreen, which were actually not due to the accident, but shhhhh!

And do these shops get creative when it comes to the writhing of accident reports...
Try and see if you can connect the dots on a windscreen replacement, bumper and bonnet respray, left skirting repair, left door ding repair and bootlid ding repairs. And all this happened from ONE accident...or so the quotation goes...

Yes Deny Edwards is great, they have done work for me before and I have been very happy with it.
Nowdays I use AutoTrust, they also great, according to Hans, the best bodyshop in the country. But your repair sounds more like part replacement then spraying.

Replacing is the new respraying. Pity that replacing is also the new repairing when it comes to expensive parts and a new car...
