It seems all the tuners are asking 4k for a tune. Why so much curious

There are tuners that charge 2k for a tune also. Drive in a and drive out within an hour for a copy paste file.
You are paying for experience gained. That takes time and years of trail, error and research to get right.
Xcede spent a week with my car, testing, tuning, testing, tuning to get the file customized to my car.
From the day i fetched it, i just filled fuel. Drove it on long distance holidays, drove it to work and on the track. No worrys.
You pay for quality.

Why buy a Reebok when you can buy a cheaper brand shoe that covers your feet. Its just a shoe right

@Iceman007 there is a few things i can add .... coming from n/a cars 4k would probably gain you 10kw.... on a serious note even 10k is nothing for a flash if you consider the journey you will be walking with your tuner ...the time and sacrifice ;late night calls after a race ,file revisions ,logging time the list can carry on ....

Ok I understand but more money can be made if its cheaper. Your selling qauntity wil be more. Im just batteling to accept paying 4k for a 10min flash đŸ˜†. I did my own coding on my car and that was not so hard. Also own diagnostics and cant see why dealers must charge such allot these days for telling you whats wrong.

Just a (related) question, since I'm not sure what Gen 1 B58 is. Is the B58 in the Supra's very different from a tuning/results perspective to the BMW B58 Gen 1's?

Your argument doesn't hold much water in terms of "if cheaper, more money can be made" - too many external factors to consider and without being part of the business strategy, you cannot say for sure. I think questioning the tuner doesn't make sense, you either accept the cost or not.

If R4k for a flash is too expensive, then you're probably not the right target market. If something were to go wrong with the car and it blows the turbo/engine/whatever, the best you may get is your money back but then you're in it for *far* more than your flash cost - everything in life is relative.

You drive a car with a market value of a couple hundred k, is R2k (or whatever amount you had in mind) really going to break the bank for peace of mind? I always say, you pay your money and make your choice.

Hi, B58 Gen 1 is in the F series models.

Gen 2 is in the G series and Supra.

Gen2 in the Supra and G series has a lot more tuning potential due to a number of factors.
