Has anyone tried the aux input diy?

I have thought about this, but I would rather get the DICE setup, which allows you to control your ipod via your steering wheel controls, and also shows track name on your radio display if I remember correctly.

BTW, Tims(my330i.com) DIY's are awesome! I have used them a few times. he also has my335i.com now

But isnt DICE still an import in SA? I know autostyle got the systems, but they are only for pioneer and jvc

Yeah unfortunately I think the DICE is still an import item.

I tried this DIY by making my own AUX cable, but it didnt work.

The only reason for it not working, that i can think of, is that the cable I mader was cr@p.

my e46'r is a late 04 build, so it should work?

The stealership want +-900 for the cable! :nono:

I think they quoted you on the aux loom going to the CD shuttle etc. That cable is a simple one piece wire and should not cost more than R250.

I've contacted a couple of car audio places here in CPT with no luck.
The dealer said that's the only cable they supply. Where can I get this one?

That is basically the same as the DIY cable, except, the 3.15 is a female jack, not a male.
Bottom line: Since there is an existing BMW product, simply making your own would not jeopardize the functionality of your head unit or car.

I tired the AUX diy again (made my own decent cable) but didnt work at all.

hmm checked my radio and i think i have old software/firmware grrrrr! even though my car is a '04/11 build!!!
