So...

Ordered my seals from the dealers

Asked for Rear Main crankseal and 2 x shaft seals that fit on the back of the G/box. And Pilot bearing.

Cost: R 1150

They deliver front gearbox seal... 1 of the two rear shaft seals... and the wrong pilot bearing...

Luckily I could get all the seals... in heat resistant from my local seal and bearing dealer. Monday I'll be shoving thos crappydooda back at them... whats the odds of a refund?

The invoice states ordered parts no returns...

but clearly half this things are wrongly supplied.

I've never had them order anything for me yet, but I have had to deal with them for quotes for comparison purposes. I wasn't exactly impressed with their lack of enthusiasm or knowledge about what I wanted that's for sure. :thumbdo:

Is this a bmw dealer? Generally they want 20 percent handling fee but you can talk your way out of that. If it's not a bmw dealer. This happens ALL the time with the bmw dealers in Cape Town. I needed the black window trim for my e90. First they sent the right hand side. Then they sent the left side but from an e46. Then third time lucky. Also time the part number was given we got the right one.

It is a dealer. Used to be BMW City... now its a BMW SA financed BEE dealership...

Lets just put it this way... I have no ooghare for the principle. Theorist with loads of experience in all aspects of the business yet nothing rubbed off on him.

They are all useless. I just give them the part numbers these days and that ensures I get the right part.

Full refund today. I must say I am impressed with the Parts Manager. Richard Hancock. Smooth process. Will support them again but next time I deal with Richard directly.

Where I need OE parts I generally quote part numbers and have them confirmed via e-mail.
That at least ensures that if they order wrong they have the pleasure of returning for credit with no arguments.

However as you discovered most seals can be had from other sources.

To be honest I never had a problem with them, but I only deal with one guy (Ryan) in parts who's pretty helpful and he and I always double check part numbers for special orders. I do however recall one occasion when I received sloppy service dealing with another guy when Ryan wasn't available...

Glad you managed to sort it out though:thumbs:
