Autoblog: BMW maintenance plan no longer transferrable to 2nd owner

It's only a matter of time until they implement it here. It's all part of the downward direction the 2nd hand car market is forced into by new car manufacturers these days. Just another way to force customers to buy new cars instead of approved used cars...

Or BMW Preowned will control the 2nd hand market of cars..

Porsche will transfer Mplan if car comes through them.. if BMW follow the same route, then everybody will want to buy from BMW to get a preowned under plan, therefore they will control market..

If this is the case then when buying a new BMW motor plan should be an opinion which will bring down new car sale price buy at least 100K depending on models?

But then im sure the BMW warranty for 2 years mechanical/trim should still be in tacked and forfeited if COA?

If this is true, it is going to be such a waste to buy a BMW.

New car sales will drop, as the first owner will be bearing the loss if the car is sold/traded in before motor plan is over as re-sale value will drop. Pre-Owned sales will also drop as no one will want to buy a car with 40,000kms and comes with no plan.

BMW will only be making it worse for themselves in my view!! :nonono:

bad move i say. Unless they drop the overall price of NEW and USED cars this is not going to work out well.

What this says to me, is cheaper 2nd hand BMW's. :joy:

Having owned 2 BMW in MP, and seen what I have claimed for thus far, you dont really need it. Just service it at a reputable place, and enjoy the savings.
BMW's is not that heavy to maintain as people think, go and see what running costs of a VW Vivo is, how much is a service alone, as an example.
