Auto gearbox oil level check

How does one do this on a 120i Auto. My daughter's 120i Auto sometimes has erratic gearchanges, I would like to check the oil level, there is no dipstick under the bonnet....does it have a visual warning like the motor oil level has?

From my experience with BMWS and no dipsticks , you have to go under the car , unscrew the fill plug thats on the side of the transmission , If its warm (I think the transmission needs to be at operating temp) and fluid comes out then its fine . If fluid does not come out , you need to top it up.

Have the oil replaced. Either at the dealer or at a reputable aftermarket shop, depending on warranty status.

If the car has more than 150000km on it then start by renewing the tranny fluid if you are having minor issues. If they persist after an oil change then seek help from a transmission specialist.

There is a procedure to check and replace the ATF, best leave it to a professional.
