At last the decat is happening...DONE

So after all this thinking I've decided to get the M decatted. I will be doing it a Power Pipes in Fordsburg as I've only heard good things about them. I do however need one more bit of advice - Pops told me that he will remove them and install two silencers in their place:mmm:. Do I go this route or just go for straight pipes in their place? Apparently with the straight pipes they the car will be very raspy but I'm just worried about how loud it will be. Take into consideration that I drive the M down to Durbs quite a bit. Any info would be appreciated...:thumbsup:

Don't they just drill out the honeycomb bit, from the inside, and replace them. Then they may look like 'silencers'...

Pls let me know what the outcome is. I'm also unsure abt drilling out my cats or putting straight-through pipes. Also what abt the lambda foolers/sensors & error codes etc.?

I have two decat bosal boxes! they are very small round boxes but sounds nice! think you might hate the straight pipes on the free way but it will sound awesome screaming through the revs!! i doubt the E46 will freak out if you remove the cats! if so never fear!!!! Viper exhaust sells the mini cats!! you screw your lamda sensors in to them and then fit the mini cats were the lamdas used to fit!! and whala your lamdas think the cats are back!! get your cabbbie chiped and remove those pesky lamdas!!!

Okay, I've just spoken to the guy again. He reckons that they did quite a few E46 M's before and with the straight pipe they will put the sensors back. If there are any error codes apparently BMW can sort it out:mmm:. If the straight pipe is too loud then I'll put in two silencers. Also looking at a chip:). Unichip or Xcede?

Car ran better although it was a very small difference!!! I did fill up recently and the car seems to be back to its old self now.

What chip you going for?

@fastguy

Do you perhaps have straight pipes in? Just want to find out from someone who has it first and then proceed...

I paid R1600 at TNT for Duel 63mm back pipes plus the Lumina back box!!!
The 2 bosal decat boxes were R900 fitted for both!!

To keep the torque correctly intact , replace them with the two boxes.

I had straight piping and there is a difference.

:thumbsup:

Howzit Guys

I had my middle Cat removed by Uncle POPS and put in straight pipes.
The sound is nice, my car has a slight E46M3 tone now and is not loud at all

Bear in mind its just the middle cat removed will soon remove the cat from just under the manifold

Okay then - got the decat done today. Just a straight pipe put in. Car sounds awesome. Very slight increase in power. No engine light on. Alot people said that I need mini-cats or cat foolers but it doesn't seem to make a difference if you don't have them. R1000 well spent:thumbsup:. Now for the software.:)
