ASC-T Fault Light On

Morning everybody,

The ASC tell-tale light on my dash is permanently on. Always has been. No, the ABS light is not a problem, that goes off a few seconds after turning the ignition on, or starting the car. (Mine does not have the DSC).

I have also tested the functionality of the ABS, and it works just fine. However, the ASC light never goes off, and the on/off switch makes no difference. (I have recently replaced the entire Climate Module (which has the ASC switch), the fault was there before, and is still there).

I have done plenty reading on the 'net, gone through many forums, and don't seem to find that perfect pearl of wisdom that says "This is wrong, this is what you do to fix it".

What I am asking now is fairly simple - can somebody suggest for me the ideal step-by-step sequence to properly diagnose the "fault", find the culprit, and fix this damn thing once and for all. I don't want to start by replacing all wheel sensors, then replacing this and that, and ending up replacing the module, only to find a bad connection somewhere. I'd like to get straight to the fault via a correct diagnostic sequence.

Anybody out there that I can label a genius forever in the time of E39 fanatics?
Oh, by the way, my car is "The Beast", my '98 E39 540i-6M - so more often than not, my ASC will be off :biglol: but I'd still like it to be working for when it might be required unexpectedly. :ty:

check under the hood

the ecu unit by your abs might be faulty and needs resoldering or resealing

mine goes when the bay is pressure washed so i know its not airtight there

but if that doesn't work then take black electrical wire ,cut a small piece like 3mm by 3mm and stick it over the light....:sorry::roflol:
