Hi Guys

Does anyone know the history of this car WBSCM92020LB29418.

Its a 99 Estoril blue Z3M. It's being sold as a code 3 and is in need of some major TLC. The car is sitting in a salvage yard amongst some far-gone wrecks.

I have gone over the car as much as I can and have picked up the following.

 • - There are some not too pretty welds in the boot, this suggests an attempted boot floor reinforcement job
 • - Body is in okay shape, no dents or major panel gaps
I'm keen to pull the trigger on this and buy it as a restoration project, but the code 3 bit worries me. Exactly what damage occurred to render it a code 3?  is it the rear subframe only? , or is there some other sort of terminal damage that has put it in a salvage yard?

Perhaps someone who knows this car can shed light, Unfortunately, no registration can only provide a Vin. It has a hole drilled into front bumper for cold air intake, this may help ID it.

I suspect this is the car   https://bmwmregistry.com/detail.php?id=6752.

BTW I used to own a cosmos metallic black  z3 roadster, imported from japan with only 90 000 km , regret selling  :dunnoanymore:

sorry for the double post , not sure how to delete second post

If that is the car at City Deep Auto it has been there for as long as I can remember.
Last asking price was roughly 170k

You would be doing yourself a favour by giving it a miss.
By the time you have finished repairing it you would have bought yourself a clean no stories car for the money.

that's the car ! dropped now to 155. I  also see its been there for a while, the timestamp on their photos is from 2019.

Should be a criminal offence to neglect such a rare car to that degree.
