second hand engine will be 50k excl fitting then you also have no idea what else my be wrong with the car because you cant test drive I think R 100k seems high and would push for less

OK got it (one of those days, I need a new laptop I think).

That car is not worth R100K, me thinks. Not when runners start at R150K.

It is an ideal candidate for a Chev LS3 swop. Gearbox, driveshafts, diff and brakes are up to the job of handling all that Yank power. Only trouble is, an LS3 is not very cheap in these parts.

By way of comparison, the S54B32 puts out 338 hp @ 7900 rpm and 269 lb·ft @ 4900 rpm.

Um no:hammerhead: anyone can make power with large displacement.

But not anyone can build a 6.2 liter V8 that weighs less than a 3.2 liter straight six. Yes really. The LS3 weighs 415 lb and the S54B32 weighs 478 lb.

I have to confess that I really like the Chevy V8. The problem is that one can only get it with a Lumina over here. When you open the door on the early ones, this is what greets you:

600

At this point I just want to get back into my E39. The later ones are somewhat better:

600

But they are still pricey and anyway this is not an E39. And their lies the conundrum. I want BMW luxury and Chev power.

What in the hell does "piston true the block" mean? it's true that there are pistons in the block? This isn't a rebuild it's a new motor. That motor is useless. And buying it to put a chevy motor in is not a good idea.

The easiest and cheapest is another S54, replace bearings and chuck it in there. No headaches of fabricating brackets, messing with ECU's etc etc etc.

that means that a "piston went through the block" and its the "truth"....so in short "the piston went true the block":roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol:...and its a "true story" LMFAO

With the amount of E46 M3's running bearings lately I wouldnt buy one. I almost did a couple of times, but the thought of this happening not long after ownership sucks & there no guarantee on 2nd hand engines either

I'm over it!
