akash is right...the cat sit on top by the manifold...hence why the job took so long

i had it done at powerflow randburg...costed me R1800

As stated above the cats are part of the manifold. That means they need to weld in pipes where the cats were.

I can imagine that those welds create some restriction in the flow of this critical component and, since it gets very hot there, the welder needs to know what he's doing else they might crack.

I would just get a performance branch manifold made or imported and be done with it. Just my 2c.

i do agree with you now that i have seen what the job looked like

guess it's school fee one need to pay

Hi Gents,

Thanks for feedback. My question was based on further questions i wanted to ask, hence you guys answered some of them already.

I would assume, if the cats are situated on the manifold you have two options.

1) Remove the manifold, Punch out the internals of the cats and re-install the original manifold as is.

2) Manufacture and entire new manifold/branch.

I would think cutting up the original manifold wont be a good idea.
