Sup Gents

I'm looking for a muscle car to start a project. Something like a 1970 Mustang or Chevelle SS. It needs to be something up for restoration. So if anyone knows a place or someone selling please let me know

Cheers

 these are rare cars. Most are full imports (stand to be corrected) and they go for a price range of between 1/4M to 1M if in pristine condition. To find one that hasn't been taken care of is next to impossible. not many people would let their 1/2M worth of car just stand behind the barn.

People are advertising looking for them willing to pay a spotter's fee of up to R2000-R3000. see this olx link .

Good luck with your hunt bud.

on another level, why don't you find a 4.0l falcon and turbo charge it?

Your other options are Junkmail and Gumtree.

Also check with the Hotrod shops like American Motorsport, Western Streetrods etc.. There is always something for sale somewhere, its just a case of being patient enough to look for it.

Also, get in touch with Ters via PM.

Hi,
A Mate of mine runs/owns "The Snake Pit" in Randburg. They mainly do Backdraft Cobra's but he also does rebuilds of what you are looking for. I would give him a shout as he seems to know where to find these old cars or could at least point you in the right direction. The place is at the back of Hamptons Cars opposite St Stithians and his name is Paul de Klerk. If you want his number just PM me.

Any reason why you don't want to restore an old BMW instead? Your choices of old BMWs are far greater than the small handful of US muscle cars here.
If you are hell bent on american muscle then I suggest you fly over there and buy one yourself, be sure to buy all the parts you will need while you are there and chuck the car and parts into a container and ship it over to SA, do the assembly/rebuild in your own garage.

Mostly older ads: http://www.ananzi.co.za/cars/chevelle-for-sale-south-africa.html but worth a call.
Or a Dodge Monaco (383cid, very underrated cars!) http://www.gumtree.co.za/a-cars/hat...american-muscle-car/1001096040480910005542409
He has a Monte Carlo with potential also: http://www.gumtree.co.za/a-cars/hat...uto-american-muscle/1001096047320910005542409
Then some on AMC: http://www.africanmusclecars.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=11

Mustangs are moer expensive to restore. Bringing one over to register and drive in SA is an option....but be prepared to convert to RHD (@+- R80K for conversion from LHD) Fellow forumite on AMC is busy doing a Chevelle with a 454, all the right parts for suspension etc. Exchange rate is killing him!

I would buy a running vehicle, and do improvements to your liking to it. Running restorations tend to keep the owners involved, not only throwing money at a parked wreck. Also read this discussion about muscle car opinions we had... http://www.africanmusclecars.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=16046&hilit=muscle+cars Join AMC forum, lots of good advice from petrol heads

Yeah it's proving to be a but impossible to find a muscle in S.A. I would've loved to fky to America but hell that would be a bit hectic unless you can sponsor, i'm all ears

@ ters: that Monte Carlo looks like such a beast. I think it will be much cheaper in the long run to buy a running one then take it from there. +1 for that. Appreciate the links mate, :thumbs

Thanks for all the responses Gents! Really appreciate the help!
