Any references? Convertible roof wont open - Cape Town

Does anyone know of a good workshop that can help diagnose the problem and repair my convertible roof?

disconnect the battery for 10mins
once you reconnect it should work, else check the fuses

You might not have to go to a workshop just yet, try DIY it first
What model BMW you have?

I believe a common problem is the boot closed switch sometimes comes astray and the logic for the roof senses the boot is open so will not operate the roof. There is also a switch on the roof mech that can also come loose and it confuses the roof system.
