Another E36 worn out ignition barrel!!

I was just rewarded with the old famous spinning key problem!

According to all the forums it is a simple case of ordering and installing a new barrel. Not according to the Stealers! The barrels you buy now does not fit the old locking mechanisms!! You need to replace both the barrel and the lock!? Can anyone confirm this?

Barrel is R1200 and the lock another R1700!!?

HELP!!!
