Android users for F30 please chime in!

So I've been using an Iphone 6 for 6 months with my F30 BMW and it's been a pleasure to see all my songs with cover art etc.

I recently upgraded and bought a Samsung S9. However my BMW is not showing any music via USB. I can play music via Blue-tooth, but I want to see my song selection via the scroll wheel like I used to with my Iphone 6.

Can any Android users please chime in and explain what I need to do to get this to work? How do you listen to music via your phone?

No option jus Bluethooth ..

Bm's designed with Apple in mind only ..

Man that REALLY sucks :thumbdo: Bluetooth audio quality is not as good as using the USB interface and I can't see my cover art or even what song is playing on the car screen. It's just shit.

I really like my new phone, but I really don't like that my car can't recognise it for music apart from the blutooth. I really hope there will be a workaround soon for this.

Had I known beforehand that my BMW wouldn't work with Android I would have waited. So miffed right now.

Word is goin 4ward Androids will be sorted also ..

Really? Via firmware update? Does anyone here have an S8/S9? Are there any workarounds or ways to "trick" Idrive into recognising Android?

Bluetooth is really the only way to listen to music in the car?

Hi,

Yes, BMW has chosen Apple as its preferred partner. Android users are only catered for via Bluetooth. However, Spotify has recently launced in SA and BMW connected services are compatible with Spotify. This is the best solution for Android users.

However, I am on Telkom LIT which does not offer the promotional 10GB pm free streaming music via Spotify. I use Google Play (covered by LIT). While I can't see album covers, or my music queue on the car screen, it still works okay.

My car doesn't have navigation so I guess BMW connected services is out. :dunnoanymore: How does Google Play help you over Blutooth?

Can you select songs via the steering wheel?

Hello there,

I know that this is an old thread, but I'm new to this forum and actually have the same problem. Was looking through different forums, only found this blog post

Maybe it will help.

Thinking about mirroring, but haven't decided yet.
