Okay so I'm new here and I joined because of the problem I solved. All the topics I saw on all bmw forums on this issue were never resolved. The issue I'm not sure if just a coincidence or not occurred after installing an aftermarket head unit to replace the factory one. The issue was that all the lights on my climate control (analog) were stuck on (ac, defrost, recirculation, rear defrost etc.) fan speeds and both large dials all worked but only outside temp air came in other than defrost heat worked. The small temp dials Also did not change air temp, The AC compressor was stuck on (which obviously slightly effected power and mpg). I first sought to check my ac related fuses, none were blown. So I went to bimmer motor world in winder GA (very professional place for used parts, I definitely recommend them if you're in GA) and I got a used climate control.. didn't fix the issue.. so I replaced the climate computer (the black box with 3 plugs under obc) didn't fix it, still did it. So frustrated I went back to square one. Not thinking about how coincidentally my obc went out around the same time, (one of which things wasn't a priority) I went back and looked in my fuse box. I just went ahead and looked for any and all blown fuses. The fuse for the obc had blown, and it is somehow connected or related to the issue. After replacing it the obc was back up and working and also my climate control problem was resolved.
Hope this helps anyone struggling with this annoying issue. This was the fix in my case.
