Am I doing a dumb thing? F10 528 for an E92 M3

Do it! Nothing special about a f10 528 compared to a e92 m3. It might seem to you as downgrading due to the year difference, but an M car is timeless.

If you do not like a grunt of a v8, the thrill of the gforces when accelerating or turning heads wherever you go, then don't do it . I would suggest just get in one even if you are the passenger and decide from there. But if I were you I would go v8. No replacement for displacement

Yeah I saw that one this morning and it is a real good deal hey. But if I'm going to do this it must be an E92. I had a look at an E93 as well this morning but I'm a little put off that the boot is really small and I shudder to think of all that extra weight.

I did find an E92 I'm interested in, but this one will need some cosmetic work as the previous plonker went nuts with CF goodies and it was applied poorly. It also doesn't have a sunroof but the factory CF roof. And he plastidipped those lovely wheels, grrrr! I'm seeing if I can get the car down to R370k which I think it's worth as mechanically it's in pretty good nic and has 70k on the odo. It's a nice platform to work from actually (CIA checks out on BMW side), as I just know I'm going to mod the sh!t out of it. And it's a manual

Here's some pics:

Ha ha, 1st world problems

Get the M3, not about being practical. You want something that puts a smile on your face and the m3 is going to do it all the time.
Also agree with the other posts that 5 series will lose more value than M3 (try to convince you in a practical way, but fork it get the M3).

Sometimes you just have to choose the heart over the head....between the E90 and the wifes lorry you are covered for practicality.

M3 for the soul...:=):

Buy the ///M... The only things you regret are those you don't do.

I think your mind is made up, but you're looking for every excuse not to do it.

M3 way more exciting than the F10. With what I know about the V8 M3, they are quite reliable. Why even worry about mileage as you won't use it much. It'll probably be no where near 100k before you want to sell it anyways.

Go for it!

Here's a twist:

Sell the 320d.
Keep the 5er as a daily.
Buy an E46 CSL.

This is good 'parental' advice right here. +1gazillion. We all lust for a virgin CSL but if you can't then an e92 ///M3 will do just fine. Keep the 5er & get the ///M.

I really like both of your cars you have presently, but I must honest and say I like the E90 more. I saw an E92 M3 here at the Shell garage, that sound!!! I think even the garage canopy vibrated, Wow!!!!! :blowheart:

And on the other hand you have so much knowledge of BMW's, if I was you I would not be worried too much about MP anyway ... My real advice to you is though, make 110% sure you do not buy a clunker, and do not rush into a deal, trust your gut feeling, you should not be in a rush to get the M3 - "Kyk die kat GOED uit die boom uit" Learn from my experience, I was desperate to get a set of wheels, and now I am still struggling to sort it out, after already owning it for a year :)

Now I'm laughing, I just read Chef's advice, yes, that is a real twist, but from what I have read in your OP is that you would not mind owning an E46 M3, my twist to this is an E36 M3 :roflol:
