Am I being paranoid?

Hey Freakazoid.
So what was the story? Did you get the issue sorted?

Bmw cleant the solenoids and so far the car has behaved. Not 100% but has not left me stranded. I took it to a private guy who checked the car for boost leaks and found none.

I do feel though that I might need to change the solenoids as when I got it back the car was flying - scared an E92 M3 the first night I got it back. Consumption was also improved from sitting in the 16s to dropping to the mid 13s. It's been 3 weeks since I got it back and power feels down and consumption slowly increased to 17s. Car is also losing oil as it is now sitting just above the minimum level.

And its back at BMW:argh:

Got a check engine light this morning in traffic. Symptoms I got this weekend were increased fuel consumption, power felt down, hesitation when flooring the pedal, misfire when idling and the car felt jerky under normal acceleration.

Hey Freakazoid.
I'm taking a poke in the dark here but have you considered having your car checked for carbon build up? That could be the cause of your increase in consumption and lack of power, and also give you a misfire on the fouled/ effected cylinders. Could also be the high pressure fuel pump. But the former would be my guess. If you have over 65-70000km on the clock carbon build up is a definite possibility.

Car is still at Auto Atlantic waiting for a pipe that cracked. Solenoids, cracked pipe and oil filter gasket being repaired at cost of R7500. I need to pay R1700 and BMW SA covering parts and Auto Atlantic 50% of labour - car went out of MP end of June.

I intend doing the carbon clean and was waiting for the Cape Town branch to open. Will be doing it in the next month or 2.

What error code are you getting?

Don't know what codes were being thrown. But the issue this time is the same as when they cleaned and swapped the Solenoids around. I am nearly convinced that all the issues I have been having are related to the Solenoids. The idling, misfire and possibly the gearbox as well.

The gearbox might sound like a stretch but whenever the idling/ misfire issue pops up the gearshifts are not smooth and at times the car will labour in a gear for longer than usual before shifting up.

I would like to do down pipes, exhaust, CAI and possibly JB but I think I will wait until Jan next year to gauge the realibility of this car before tuning it.
