and yes it will be used as a daily drive!

Not. You don't drive that much in any case, so fuel is actually irrelevant.

But if you don't like depreciation (and I know you of all people dont:rollsmile: ) you should reconsider. This thing will hit hard in a very tender place when it comes to re selling..

Rather put a freeflow on your current e53 4.4i X5 if you want to unleash that V8 SUV feeling.

The speed..... hmmm.

Just pretend its fast with that new loud exhaust:crazylaugh:

The fuel is not a worry, the depreciation is indeed my biggest worry. But how bad could it be over 6-12 months :)

I want a batshit crazy v8 in my life before we are all driving turbo charged 1.4s :tiptoe:

Should have kept the E39 M5 then :)

I would honestly keep the F10 for comfort over the X5.

Otherwise get yourself a F01 750i/F02 750Li. 4.4L twin turbo V8.

I would then rather get a M5. Remember you might not keep it longer than 3 months

Thats ironic, as I looked at an e39 m5 with 130k on the clock this morning. mint condition, but pre-facelift!

The reason I havent chosen the M5 is because its R250k more expensive!!

Mileage on X5M is relatively low for the year, just had a look (50k km), see it has m/plan till November next year, just over a year basically. If you keep it for longer than 6 months you gonna have to extend the m/plan for another year as the next person buying it from you will not want an X5M with an m/plan with only a couple of months left on it.

If I was to have a guess, if you sell in a year you'll lose R80-R100k including the cost of m/plan extension. Having said that, it may also not be that bad, so just go get it!

Depreciation will HAMMER you, over 6 to 12 months. :YesNo:

But that's part of the fun of owning an ///M. That beast is EVERYTHING!!!!

Tough choice.

So lets play another game, for R600k what BMW would you buy. With the main consideration being fun and performance.

The X5 has a place in this world, and I get the concept ect.

But, that high center of gravity, even with an excellent suspension, and handling above 121km per hour... its just not...... erm...

The 530d is beyond an epic car, and its a drivers car,

I dont think you will be in the X for too long before you get sick of it.

If I was you, Id rather look at a 550 or //M.

Well, it depends I guess on how long you want to keep the car. The X5M to me represents the most excellent value ///M out there. Same V8 Turbo engine in the M5 at a fraction of the cost. That SUV is really quick. You will love it.

I think I would have gotten the same, but just wanted to scratch the itch of an ///M in sportscar guise first. My next car and going forward will be an SUV.

SUV's are just way more comfortable to drive. Sales and popularity proves this. Porsche sells more Cayenne's (over 50% of sales) than 911's.

I would go for this X5. You will LOVE it. I've been in one, and its brilliant.
