Alpina or not

I got hold of an E28 M535i. It is a very clean one with everything working. It sits on the same spec limited Alpina Rims as seen on a rare E28 Alpina B7 3.5. IT does have the branches and brakes from an Alpina and I have heard rumours that it is an Alpina. But that said I did not buy because of this and I would just be interested to find out the truth. The previous owner did have some touch ups done, also I have been told there is photo's with this specific car with Alpina badges.

If Alpina it should carry an Alpina serial number plate in the engine bay like the old vin/chassis tags as far as I know or have a "B??" badge. Also, I am not sure but think they also came with the body apparel standard (slightly bigger front spoiler and boot spoiler). Not sure if they produced them looking std. Looks a very clean car though, very nice - congrats.

Hey bud.

Loving this car!

From the little I know of the e28, I don't think any of those parts are Alpina specific or developed unless they are stamped as Alpina items.
The body looks stock e28 to me and those rims could be a version of a BBS RS or similar, possibly even a rep such as the A-Line Scorpion. I don't think any Alpina came from the factory with anything that resembles the BBS wheels ever really.

But still a beautiful piece of kit bud.

nope - too many thing missing, especially the massive front spoiler.
Those are def BBS and not Alpina Specific rims check on the inside. as mentioned also the Alpina Plate and Vin Number will confirm.

But having said that - looks awesome.

Thanks for the reply. The Black 1 in the pic is an original Alpina just for interest sake. I will check the chassis plate and the wheels for any signs. Should have her back this week.

I genuinely doubt that black car is an original Alpina. What makes you say that it is bar the badge on the grill?

Those are definitely BBS Style 5s with alpina badges.
its also difficult to see from the pics if they are two piece splits or Aline rep wheels

With regards to being a " B" Alpina model, best to check the vin tag.
It might just be a stock M535i E28 with an E28 M5 Bootspoiler

Alpina will have dashboard plaque on this model

the black car is a B10 Alpina but had the wheels changed as stated above.

that car has a plaque on the dash and that car had its wheels swapped..some potential buyers weren't happy about it...your wheels look like A lines but if its genuine BBS thats a great score!

Let me start off by saying, that your car looks immaculate and you need to share more pictures.

Looking at the diameter of the wheels and size of those dishes, i would hazard a guess and say they are A-line scorpions with Alpina badges. Alpina is also known for leaving their brand scattered on various parts of their cars, Example like on the instrument cluster/steering/gearknob/engine plaques/manifolds/grill/bootlid etc etc so i would use that info to make a better informed decisions.
