Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all good...

I have a little problem with my BMW e46 320d 2004. The alarm just goes off random times.

Not sure whether it could be the battery cause I did had a problem with the battery when I got the car, but not anymore. However, when my car is parked for a day, then the alarm goes off and this is repeated like 5 times the day.

I had same problem on my E30. I had an aftermarket alarm and found that the switch for the bonnet was faulty. Check your door switches and if you have the interior motion sensor. Its gotta be one of the switches.

Thanks

How will I know whether it is a door switch? Is there a way to test these? Do I need a tool or anything?

Had the same problem on my e90.Turned out that the bonnet switch was faulty and no problems since it was replaced.

Thanks all... I will go searching the culprit... Hopefully it is the bonnet switch and nothing major

just stick on a little spacer using anything on the bonnet switch, had same problem, just pasted on double sided tape that I folded in half and problem was gone! It seems that it does not go in deep enough! that does not sound to well!!!!!!!!!

Same problem in my E46, bonnet switch too
Try the double sided tape, if that fails, disconnect it to see if that solves your problem.

Bonnet switch.

But in case you really want to be sure, somebody with proper BMW diagnostics equipment can actually tell you what event triggered the alarm

SO this has been bugging me for years and I somehow always forgot to ask. What happens to the circuit when pulling the switch upwards? What is the purpose of this feature?

Yeah yeah, I am pretty certain that lotsa people didn't know that it can be pulled up a single notch :)
