Whats the benefit of these anyway? People love them, and they look awesome. But is that about it? or is the carbon fiber supposed to do something
Same effect as my carbon fibre boot wing...
No the wing will create some kind of downforce at higher speeds whereas the tail pipes do nothing,
That's cute, no it won't.
Ok maybe it will, but it will create so little extra downforce that you won't feel it. In the same way that the carbon fibre sleeves make it lighter, therefore reducing overall weight, even though you won't feel the difference.
no whats cute is that you say no and then you say maybe? You do realize that there is a difference between a WING and a SPOILER? a wing will create way more downforce than a spoiler at high speed and it is noticeable. or do race cars just put them on to add more weight...
First Audi TT was recalled so they could add a spoiler to help with downforce at high speed, after 5 people died.
Read it here
So yes a little carbon spoiler will an effect at highspeed. To what degree we wont know as nobody here has a wind tunnel to prove anything. But just because you don't notice it ,does not mean that the effect is not great.
Comparing a road car spoiler or a "wing" to race car wings is also "wrong" as a road car spoiler/wing is used to keep the rear of the car from becoming "light" . Race car wings are there to help maintain maximum momentum, i.e fast on the straights and the corners. Road cars dont need downforce to corner, not even really fast cornering cars like the r35 GTR needs it.
You read about here from these NASA guys.

But to sum it up the link: "Aerodynamic improvements in wings are directed at generating downforce on the race car with a minimum of drag. Downforce is necessary for maintaining speed through the corners."
But anyway please continue winging it, I really dont want to be the spoiler of your fun
