IIRC, Rowen recently fitted them to his 1M. Search the forum and possibly check pricing with him to get some sort of reference.

Rowen got his from Alexshop in the States.

The akra rear that I fitted yielded no power gains but the sound :praise:

Not bashing the brand, but most exhausts are seriously overrated. I recently had an exhaust fitted for half of what the "brand names" ask and it performs just as good, not quite in the same league as akra or other very high end stuff when it comes to the weight factor, but mine surely sounds the business.

Each to their own, some people will pay serious money for in car entertainment, others pay for a proper exhaust, each to their own.

100%!

True, you need the Akrapovic down pipes and the Akrapovic Evolution exhaust to get power increases.

My 18"s ....

So, lemme write a short story too.....

Went to BMW in Midrand on March 13 as I thought the new 3 series was already out(was never really a die hard bm fan, actually chose a g5 over a 323 in Sept 2008).

The curiosity started because my 3 yr old Golf 5 GTI DSG was coming to 90 00km and I didn't want to extend the motor and service plan so I was looking around and considering the: Golf R , 135, 335 or even maybe keeping my car and just extending the plan.

Went past two salesmen that I greeted and didn't help me - which was disappointing(I was 'dressed down' - working from home that day). The 3rd guy came to assist me and informed me that he was getting a 335i tomorrow - I believe all the dealerships got dibs on the first ones to use as demo cars.

So, the idea was to just have a look at it and see if I like the looks etc....

Pitch up on the Wed, car looks Madir :) Got a chance to drive it in the parking lot with stickers, plastic etc and all... Anyway my emotions already raced off and I wasn't the least bit concerned in roping them in :)

So, time to bring my Dbn negotiation skills to the table. Anyways Richard and I strike one sweet deal and I walk away with a very good trade-in on the G5 that makes things worth my while and an offer to purchase.

I'm an ex-Absa employee so finance was sorted quick quick and the deal was done on Friday morning. Gave the guys Fri and Mon to sort out reg, licence plate etc and picked up the car on the Tue(20 March).

Anyways, the experience so far in one word : Madir !!!!! Its just such a cool car to drive , I enjoy it all the time even on the M1 going to the CBD everyday during peak time.

Have to admit, hardly drive hard as I'm always in traffic and during Mon-Fri its in eco pro - hence my avg of 8.5 l/100km. I mentioned this point just to show how efficient the engine is , don't know how they did that.

Sport and Sport + : OMG - you know u driving a 335 :), haven't really exploited the car to determine the diff between sport and sport +.

Issues to date:

1. The button on the front passenger headrest popped out after month one. Pushed it back in and its all good.

2. IMO(and I might be flamed for this): They can do better with the 8 speed sport auto as compared to the dsg at very very low speed - the kinda speed I find my self in every day on the M1. I only notices this maybe 3 times with some weird 'shudder' sounds for like a sec or 2.

3. The flippin stop-start: I hate this and switch it off. If you live in Rio then its a gud thing - traffic is way way bad there...

Well, trust you find this informative. I actually bought this car on a whim and emotion :) . I suppose you cant really make a convincing Business case.....

personally if i could afford it then i would buy it as its not about the gain for me,but about the sound.

but thats me

100%. That sound!!!!!! Grrrrr!!!!!!! Even if it made the car loose a few Kw's I would still do it for the sound.
