Airstrip @ Hoedspruit AFB

Hey guys

Just a quick look at who would be willing to pop down to Hoedspruit for a day on the airstrip?

I would like to arrange a charity day at the Hoedspruit Air Force Base. There would be a small charge for entrance that would be donated to a charity.

In return we'll have some fun on the airstrip.

Just looking at how many people would be interested before we start making arrangements.

Still working on the date. October if all goes well.

Hoedspruit is in limpopo near phalaborwa and Tzaneen. 79km from the Kruger national park.

We had a Porche club day couple of years back and they had top end races, 1/4 mile drags, best handling challenge.

We can maybe even try to get them to do an airshow as part of the day.

Have a little thing like they did in the old days where they used to race the jet against some hot cars! Used to love that :inlove:
Was usually a Mirage.
Anyway, sounds cool. Wish I had a car that I could go all "Jeremy Clarkson" on there!

I will do my best for a special race against a jet or maybe the Orix Helicopter. That's gonna take some serious pull...

The Oryx could be slightly easier.
They used to do this at Waterkloof or was it Wonderboom airport? Was AWESOME! :rollsmile:

Hoedspruit! raise: :rollsmile: Love that town...it's like the frontier town of Kruger.....stayed at Klaserie Private Game Reserve which is like right next to Hoedspruit.

Would be awesome to have a drag race :rollsmile: lol we'll scare the lions away :roflol:

When we went in Jan of this year, it was like a 6-7 hour trip. but we were travelling slow (damn potholes) and also getting stuck behind the truckers :fencelook:

It's a good 5 hour trip from Joburg.

We do have some of the best roads to drive. There is a road between bushbuck ridge and graskop that you kan take some great turns at high speeds.

Beautiful scenery also.

Make a weekend of it...
