airflow meter

hi guys...need advice please...i have a e36 316i...how do i knw if my airflow meter is buggerd.....my car dnt idle straight..it idles up an down.... My tail pieces burn black an da fuel smell abit rich....wen i pull i see sum smoke an it smell rich at da back...can the air an fuel mixture be out .....can a person set it by da side screw on the airflow meter?....thanx

you can start by having your codes read.

if you wanna test the maf, disconnect it and drive it for a week. if the car drives better you know its klaar.

symptoms you describe could also be a vacuum leak
