Airbag light stays on.

Hi All,

I am new to the BMW Club as I have just recently purchased a 2002 3 series 330d. From the get go I knew I was in heaven as I was trying to decide between a Merc the the BMW, I'm stocked with the end result.

Unfortunately it has not taken very long for me to get stuck. I have read a multitude of threads on this forum as well as others and just can not seem to narrow down the issue. I took my car in for a scan as the airbag light does not turn off once the car is in motion, it's on permanently, and from the various threads I've learnt it could be a couple dozen items causing this (passenger pressure plate, various connections! wiring and so on) the issue I have is that the results of the diagnostics scan refer to three things 1: side airbag ign. circuit, left front resistance to low 2: ignition circuit window airbag front left resistance to high and 3: drivers side front airbag igniter circuit 2 resistance to high. Firstly am I correct in assuming that if it were the seat sensor (passanger) or the airbag unit itself the diagnostics would have referred to the in a more specific form? Secondly is this perhaps a wiring issue?

The chap I bought the car from assured me it had never been in an accident (not the is aware of anyway) but on closer inspection I have noticed the front bumper does not line up perfectly (maybe 2 mil out on one side) which to me would indicate a vender bender perhaps? (Bonnet lines up very neatly so could not have been to bad of a bump, or am I being nieve?) if the vehicle was in a bender would this be enough to damage connectors and possibly wiring (airbag units themselves are in tack and functional) maybe something dislodged or came loose.

I have been trying to figure this out more then a week now and would ask that if there's anyone here who might have had similar issues to please share their experience, also does anyone know where I should start in terms of fault finding / troubleshooting?

Looking forward to responses.
