Maybe the one's at bmw is goldplated?? :dunno:
good for you to get it somewhere else. :thumb:
I saw on Carte blanche consumer report they had a show about dealership pricing on parts.
some parts were priced more that 500% markup from what they pay for it. :dropjaw:
Crazy i tell you... crazy.

Bud where are you located? I had to replace mine about 2 months ago. Here in Cape Town I got a generic one for R600 and just had to do some diagnostics for R300.

Ive read on one of the forums that you can buy the MAF sensor separately to the whole housing. Much much more sense to just get the sensor as its the only wear item. Just part numbers can be a bugger.

only the older ones can be removed from the housings, the newer ones are molded and cant be removed.

generics are risky, they have been proven many times to have inferior response curves, ect.

Thats a lot of money!

I replaced mine a while back, OEM one from Diesel-Electric for R1500 or so and R200 to clear error codes after installation.

m in durban and was in contact wud sumbody in capetown who was selling airflow metres.i think his name is charles.was not willing to take a chance wud generics.for 2500 two bosch sensors not bad at all.my bmw tech advised me to not go alternate part route.im also going to take of my k&n filters since the oil used on these filters contaminate the maf.do u also hav an m5

I think this guy has a E39 M5 so he needs 2??

the air mass sensor is different to the one urs take.bosch in durban quoted 7000 rand.i bought the sensor only not the housing.still bmw is ripping us of.13500 compared to 2500.thats alot of saving.
