Howzit guys,
Just wanted to know what is the best setup for an E36 M3 3.2 i.e tried and tested. Dual 63mm 2box system or 57mm to 63mm etc.
Shot.
Sorry to all for never completing the exhaust thread on my old username aka mos1ted.
Ok so here goes E36M3.2 requires a 63mm into a 57mm. This means from the stock headers one is to run dual 63mm piping which feed into 400 width round boxes, at this point this is where balancers are put before the boxes and after. From this point onwards is where the 57mm dual piping will feed into a smaller box towards the rear tyres approx about 200 width (square in shape). From this box it will feed into the last box (stock box works well and keeps the drone away). This last box can be replaced with a 57mm dual exit (best if its a offset one). E36M does require some backpressure hence the offset box or orginal.
This setup has been perfected and worked on my car and a few others that did the design. The design used on my car was all dyno tested with over 10 exhaust setups and the above proving to be the best weather it be coast or altitude.
The custom exhaust was built by Xflow aka Xcede Performance Center in jhb , randburg. Wth this very same setup with Xcede mapping the car ran a 13.8sec on a few tracks. Car got quicker after diff install but didnt get a chance to test it but i can comfortably say it would have run 13.5/6sec. On the highway runs it use to run ahead of a lot of faster cars like stock 335s , v8 luminas and the likes.
Key to make a E36. 3.2 fast is hardware mods. Exhaust justs aids the car being able to rev more freely.
Harware mods to consider :
Exhaust
induction
3.64 diff
Schrick cams
All the above is proven mods that worked on more than one M3.
If that is not enough . 150shot gas works well on these motors.
Here is a number for Alister from Xflow that built my setup and all the M3s thereafter...0824174480 or 0712424727
