After years of waiting I can finally say I'm a proud BMW owner!

Hello Fanatics!

I have struggled to keep myself off this forum since I joined a few days ago, I wanted to wait until I got my Beemer before I introduced myself but I can't wait anymore!

In mid March I'll be driving down to KZN to pickup my sweet new ride:

2002 BMW E46 320i Exclusive f/l (Manual) in Grey Green with Grey Leather interior!

I have been in love with BMWs since I was in high school when one of my mates welcomed a beautiful 1999 Z3 into his family. It was the first BMW I ever drove.

Between finishing high school and varsity I managed to get behind the wheel of an E46 320i: I offered to be the designated driver for a mate's 21st - a wild night when I truly developed what I could only describe as an obsessive attachment to the sonorous purr of the BMW I6...it was also a wild night for my mate...but for different reasons entirely!

Ever since then I've always kept the idea of owning an E46 I6 in the back of mind... Until now!

I look forward to getting to know you all in time and I look forward to many many kilometres of scintillating motoring in my E46!

This is honestly one of the most professionally run forums I have ever seen and I feel proud to be a part of it and hope I can contribute in some way.

Cheers everybody!

Welcome to the forum dude!

The wait must be excruciating! I had to wait a week after I signed the OTP for my BMW. Longest week of my life!

Thanks man! I saw in another thread that you are from Howick? My car will be registered there with my folks, that's where I collecting it from!

Aaah I have to wait until the 15th to see my beast! It's gonna be tough. :fencelook:

Awesome dude! Let me know when you come down to pick it up! We can meet up for a coffee and drool over your new ride! Now the old man owner thing makes sense

Welcome to the forum

Out of interest, was it budget that limited you to the 2.0 liter? Did you ever think of getting the 3.0 liter or perhaps one of the diesel variations?

Very nice intro

Haha cool I'll drop you a PM when I'm down there RAArmstrong.

It was a question of budget and I'm nuts about the sound of the I6. The diesels are wild and I'm confident that my next car (hopefully it's a Beemer) will be a diesel...but I'm also wary of used turbo diesels, I just don't have the money to fix it if it were to go wrong on me.

This car will be my daily runner in some traffic (luckily I have a short commute) and the 330i would punish me for it, so I opted for the least of the 'evils' as it were. Make no mistake I would take a 330i in a heartbeat if I could afford it!

Welcome, also took me a couple years to buy a BMW. But I plunged into it last year. Loving it!
Congrats and many happy miles

This has the 2.2l M54B22 motor - same as my Wife's car. Very very nice engine and actually very much a balanced car in my opinion! Obviously not 330i fast, but don't make the mistake in thinking that it's not quick in it's own way! My Wife has her own TLGP's!

Totally
agree with you here, the e46 has a timeless appeal.

This engine is the reason I bought the car - and I guess it should whip an e90 320i... By how much I'm not sure but 15kW and 10Nm extra must count for something.

Sadly the plastic has perished somewhat on the tailgate and the strip holding the numberplate lights and release handle will come loose if someone who doesn't know tries to open the boot... DIY with superglue?
