Hi Guys

I need some opinions here.
I have a 2009 BMW 323i LCI version, with 40000km on the clock.
It has the sportspack with 18" wheels.
i bought this car in August 2015 with 29000km on the clock. My first impression wasnt a good one, as i was left wanting more on the power/speed side especially since the fuel consumption wasnt good (average 12l/100km).

However, i grew to like the car quite a lot. the handling, drive, ride comfort, build quality, etc. i honestly really like the car now, barring the speed (which I can live without).

The car is in mint condition and drives like brand new, the interior is spotless, seats are as new. In fact, the back seats are brand new. The only concerns i have, are the cost of maintaining this vehicle, as it is out of motorplan. the fuel consumption, the cost of tyres (+-R14000).

Now, i was made an offer to purchase my Dads colleagues vehicle for the trade price, as he isnt concerned on selling at market value. The details of the car arent accurate as i havent seen this car yet. i have been told that the vehicle wasnt in any accidents, and has a FSH and in excellent condition.

2012 Audi A4 1.8T (i think it is the 125kw version)
auto
leather seats.
2 years remaining on motorplan.
i think it has the SE package.
R170000

So its basically a good price. But im torn between the two.

ANy opinions or advise from members who have owned/driven both for a substantial amount of time?

Thanks for looking.

Keep your car or buy a 320d or 330i 330d 335i if you want something with a better drive feel. Audi is a boring drive. The multitrinic boxes are crap. 1.8t is not fast. The boost feel might make you think it is. Oh ya and its boring.

I will not let another member go down the road i just went on.

Dont let book values fool you either. Dealers pay over 40k behind trade on these cars coz they are crap.

:tiptoe: dude - drive the car and make your own mind up, u can do a bit of research on your own re: costs of maintenance and resale.
asking if BMW guys if they like Audi is not wise.

That fuel consumption sounds high, I get 11l/100km combined on my pre-lci 330i. Unless you drive it pretty hard, I would suggest you have it checked out.

I fully agree with Karsh. I drove a 2014 Audi 2.0T A/T and it was boring . The drive, handling, speed (maybe not a good speed comparison) and comfort were not the same as the BMW, and it was not exciting AT ALL.

You are better off in the BMW, trust me.

LOL karsh is on point but forgot to mention about the car he had before the audi. Maybe thats why it boring. On personal side i will take rear wheel drive anyday over front wheel drive.

I know those 1.8T/2.0T drink oil like crazy and are more expensive to maintain out of plan vs the BMW brands...

Oh ja...and BMW = RWD :bravo: , Audi = FWD :yuck:

Mine used 1lt of oil every 750 to 1000km. There was an issue with the 1.8t and 2.0t a4 and a5 from 2009 to 2011. Not sure how the later models consume. I wont be finding out.

No issues with my 2013 model, only do oil change as per service schedule.
