Hi everyone, I'm looking at possibly purchasing a 2018 BMW 320i with 85000km on the clock. If I proceed with the purchase, it would be my first BMW.
I've always been a fan and I've always wanted a BMW, but I just want to make sure I make the right choice before I take the plunge.

Try and get a 320d instead even its slightly older and has a bit more mileage. The diesel is more reliable and economical.

More reliable? Does the 320i have major issues other than the cooling system that they were recalled for?

While the B48 motor in the 2018 320i you considering seems to be better than the notorious N20 motor on the pre LCI 320i's, there are still some issues that pop up that could cost an arm and a leg like on the below link:

The 320d N47 (pre-LCi) and B47 (LCi) motors have proven to be super reliable and many can attest to that. Another point as mentioned above is the 320d is more powerful than the 320i.

So more power, better economy and proven reliability on the diesel vs the petrol. It just makes sense to go diesel.

320d (with full service history) all day long, unless you can get into a 330d :)

320d is more expensive than a comparable aged/mileage 320i, but the 320d is the better car - faster, lighter on fuel, better engine reliability over the long term.

Even a higher mileage 320d (with full service history) would be better than a newer/lower mileage 320i.

A 320d in base spec (with 17 inch rims) is one of the best all rounder cars you can ever buy.

So, I went for a test drive in the 320i on Saturday and I think my expectations were too high. It's a really fancy-looking car, drives like a dream, and has all the "fancy gadgets" I want, but the wow factor wasn't there. That and the fact that the average fuel consumption stood at 10km/l

I'll be looking for a 2.0d going forward.

From a 2018 to 2014 there is a lot of changes.

2018 models have updated i drive and mobile app, SIM card , Apple car play. Face lifted lights

Are you looking at M Sport or Base Models?
