Advice Needed

Hi Guys I am hoping some of the fellow fanatics can help with an issue I am facing regarding the wifes car.I bought a 2012 bmw x1 in september last year a few weeks ago it started making a aweful whining noise.I sent the car back to the dealership i bought it from and was told that the is an issue with the timing chain and a few related components and those would need to be replaced at my cost of 55K.Now the vehicle was bought less that 6 months ago and I dont feel this should be for my account. It is a very low mileage car I bought at 63k on the clock and it currently has 70k on the clock.I have researched the issue and found that BMW in europe and US have issued a recall for this exact issue on car manufactured before 2013.

I just wanted some thoughts on my recourse with BMW keeping in mind the recall and the terms of the CPA

Thanks in advance.

Are you out of motor plan? Similar thing happening with my 3 series.
From my research, second quotes etc.. BMW charges that rate because they dont have the answer for exactly what the problem is, and their solution is to take the whole thing apart and replace everything. My quote was that exact amount as well.
I got a second opinion (without telling them what BMW said) from a very reputable BMW specialist. He quoted a fraction of the cost (15k including labour) to repair. So if I was you I'd get a second opinion and go somewhere else.
