As the title states, I need some advice comparing:

Bridgestone RE050's and Pirelli P7 Cinturato

I drive a 1 series coupe 125i M-sport, currently I have the stock Good Year runflats which I've done 45 000km's on.

Now they need replacing and I need help deciding on which of the 2 above are the best with regards to comfort, road noise and mileage as I can get a pretty good deal on both. I know both offer good grip so I'm not concerned there.

My car is still under Mot so I need runflats..

I have never tried Bridgestone or Pirelli before hence my undecisiveness, Michellins are impossible to find in the sizes I require [I have the stock M-Sport 17's 205/50/17 front and 225/45/17 rear] otherwise I would've made my mind up ages ago as Michellin are the best..

From reviews I've read it's much of a muchness but this is where I need your help to help me decide..

RE050's
Better looking tire
Harder compound
Good mileage

or
P7 cinturato?
Softer compound
Low mileage
[excessive road noise once worn in]
Better fuel economy

Thanks all!

Michellins 205/50/17 front and 225/45/17 rear...let me phone the Michelin warehouse tomorrow on these to confirm or dispel the rumour of availability or not...if you don't mind ?

I could not justify the cost of Bridgestones, they way over priced. My one buddy owns a tire shop, and says since BMW started bringing new cars out on them their prices went up.

I have the Pirreli P7 cinturato's on my car, love them. They quiet, and handles great, in dry and wet.

I opted to ditch the runflats due to the harsh ride and bought a space saver kit, car still no motorplan, been for a few services since including a pulley repair. BMW does not void your motorplan, they not that strict. Do have confirmation from the two dealerships my car has been to since I ditched RFT October 2011.

P7s are good tires, my dad has them on his Merc. Very little Road noise from them... They've done around 50 000 now and have maybe another 8-10 in the

Bad news.........No Run-Flat from Michellin in these sizes

Bridgestone 205/50/17.........R2365
225/45/17.........R1950

Continental 205/50/17..........R3075
225/45/17..........R2540

Goodyear 205/50/17...........R2125
225/50/17...........R2815

so I took the liberty of getting quotes on 3 different tyre brands for you

I voted for the Bridgestone Potenza RE050 - but make sure that it is the RE050A 1, or 2 (these are the most recent versions of the RE050 series)!

I have them on the 330i in a staggered configuration and am very happy with them! Grip is good, tyre life so far is good, not too noisy and does not tend to tramline nearly as badly as the old Continental Sport Contact 2 RFT's that I had (horrible rubbish tyres)!

Don't know the Pirelli P7's, but the P-Zero's are of course awesome and probably better than the RE050A's!

Try BMW for the Michelin's in that size. And BMW are (for me anyways) cheaper than a tyre shop. You got nothing to lose. I got Pilot Sport 2's on my car and they are phenomenal! Otherwise, go for the Pirelli. I had Bridgestone on my M3 and wasn't that impressed. They were ok but lacked a bit of confidence when cornering.

Thanks to all for your advice and comments :praise:

I've decided on the Bridgestone Potenza RE050 A2's

Having them fitted on Saturday will give initial impressions on how they are [for me]

Please just take a look at a comparison HERE. The PIRELLI came up tops in most tests.

that rating is for the all season tire not the summer tire... it is in a different category all together and is designed to cope with snow and ice...

Was actually wondering about that - and even the tread pattern looks a bit different. Tirerack is a great site, but obviously they cover a wider range of tyres that don't always apply here, winter tyres, summer tyres, or all season for I gather those that don't want the inconvenience of having to switch to a different set of wheels and tyres as the seasons change...
