ADVICE-BMW performance power kit & exhaust

OK, so after many hours of thinking about getting an aftermarket exhaust and software i just cant get myself to pull the trigger.I think what's holding me back is my worry about MP and i don't have the time to add and remove parts before i have to take her in.So i think that the BMW performance route would be better for me.

Is there anyone that has the power kit & exhaust fitted on a 135 n55? i don't know much about this kit so please if you have it installed will you tell me about it? Is it worth it? how does it compare over stock?......
I'm asking you guys before i contact the dealer because i need an honest opinion and not someone who will tell me anything to get me to buy it.

Thanx :=):

I know it's expensive but I guess that's what you have to pay for modding and having peace of mind.

If you worried about MP then the bmw exhaust is a great choice. Its pricy but worth it. Expect a 20% flow above the stock exhaust. Quite a few of us are running the BMW PE.

The Powerkit comes with bigger radiator & fan, intake scoops and software. Which upp the boost to about 11.5psi. The increase in boost is minimal but the cooling benefits is worth the upgrade. The kit is also rediculously priced. But if you plan to keep the car then its a worthwhile consideration.

All the best with your decision

You can easily look at having a Dastek Plug & Play Unichip conversion done. It is very simple and quick to remove before you take your car in for a service, and re-install it again afterwards. Cost ± R5000!!

You will love it:thumbs:

If you have to go piggy back on the x35i then JB4.

Ettiene...thats a useful link. I agree Bmw performance products are still conservative compared to the dedicated aftermarket specialists and with AC your MP also remains intact. But the price points are scary.

I have the power kit already installed and have been looking at the BMW perf exhaust as a MP friendly option.

In your opinion is it a worthy upgrade? i have been trying to find decent sound clips but its proving to be challenging. Dont want to get one and find out that it is too conservative and barely sportier than stock.

I have the performance exhaust on my car and very happy with the sound.
When you first install it, it doesnt sound much different to stock...but after a while it gets much better.

It's especially good under bridges and basement parking lots

I'm assuming its only the sound holding you back from purchasing?

I had the same questions when I started at looking to mod my e92 335 n55. I use the car for daily driving as well as my weekend toy. I am part of the BMW car club and my car has seen 3 track days this year. Before I went to the first one my friend Michael Broom recommended the ppk kit and exhaust for extra performance but also extra cooling as I have the DCT and they run a lot hotter on track. I went and installed the akroprovic evolution exhaust and full ppk kit.
The car sounds fantastic and also runs easily around the track without any limp mode issues or over heating .

The performance on mine has increased especially in 4th and 5th gear as you can feel the extra gain in torque.
I must also be honest since the exhaust and ppk kit my car is a lot looser in th rear and I get a lot of wheel spin but this is the fun part.

My honest opinion is if you want no mp issues go this route but expect to pay a lot

Mine cost me R 72k but I honestly use it to its fullest

Hope this helps!

Literally just the sound holding me back hey...not expecting a performance gain, just want a nice sporty noise.

Dont want to spend R15k on this and then wish i had waited and gone Eisenmann race or so at a later stage.

BMW now has the Akropovic for the 1M. You don't even want to know what that costs! :dropjaw:
Let's just say R13400 ex Vat seems cheap compared to the Akropovic.

Sorry man, think it was R13400 inc vat exc labour now that i think about it.

Hi Guys , I think I paid arnd 11700 including everything, labour portion was 1200 included in that amount and vat. This was about 2 months ago.

The exhaust is so worth it !

I still canT get my head arnd the 28k for the ppk. Somebody told me that the ppk price dropped but I'm yet to find a dealer that had.
