Hey Peeps

Has anyone been on the Advanced High Performance course? I have mine booked in November and I must admit, I am a bit nervous about it. How did you guys, who have been on the course, find it?

Hi ashman,

I also booked my dad and I on it about 2 years ago. Really loved it. We went to kyalami where there were a bunch of 330i E90's waiting for us, and for those with deep pockets an M3 and a Z4M (with the 3.2 motor)

There's a bit of classroom time beforehand where they explain in detail what you are going to do and can expect from the cars and track. ABS testing DSC use both on and off on the track, and later on the skidpan with cones.

I was truly amazed at how effective those systems are. You really see the cars shine with it ON :praise:

But before the skidpan we had actual track racing as well

The instructor comes with and they have cones pre placed around the track on all the apex's. (or is it apexi) :roflol:

By the time you get the hang of the track, they remove the cones and by then you're doing pretty good  Also you take frequent breaks inbetween track sessions, with refreshments they provide, so you can stay focused and maximise the learning and enjoyment :joy:

Then the exercises on the skidpan, followed by, yes drifting!!! power sliding, whatever floats your boat

I felt we could've spent more time on that subject. Revision to 100% seems essential.

It is a long day after all, and they have dedicated photographers taking shots all day long of individuals and the group and have them for sale on a flash drive at the end of the day.

I believe they offer different courses, one incl and excl actual track racing. And then there's the choice of cars!

Being new to REAL track racing i felt the 330i was a real beaut to learn on. Stable well balanced and epic roadholding. Wow i got scared before the tyres did around the corners.

Hope this helps.

i really would not worry about it the last thing they want is for someone on the course to get injured...

I was also nervous doing the course 2 years ago. But i booked with two friends...so we had lots of fun, even though we were not in the same group.

The things i hated:
* having to sit in the back of the car when it was someone elses turn.

* did not like the fact that those that were in my group 3 people, were telling me how to drive...so one is already nervous then you have clowns in the car shouting at you how and where to run the track lines...:nonono:

* we were not given an opportunity to run the track alone...

Anyway, despite that, i learned a lot from the instruction.

One tip. Learn the track before hand...how many bends and straights...drive the track in your mind...you will have so much more fun and not be bewildered on the day.

thats not cool what use is it knowing the correct lines to take when you cant take the lines while driving on the road...

you would learn more by taking the wrong lines like you are forced to on he road and balancing the car to get it though the corner...

Thanks Twins. I was told by many that they also didn't like the fact there were others in the car and you had to sit in the back when it was not your turn. I am just hoping that there will not be many at my course because mine is the ///M course.

Oh as for "Learn the track before hand"...Google Earth FTW
