Active Hybrid, yes/no..a step to far ?

I am offered a 335i Active hybrid (2014 year make)

I watched a few youtube vids to see what it is all about

now I am worried, is it just too much technologie for the SA standard of workmanship and skills and problem solving ?

or is reliable and easily repaired when it goes broken ?

after watching the youtube videos and seeing how the systems switches off and on, and transfers power and so, I am scared that we are not up to the challenge to repair it locally when it fails, and it sure looks like a lot can go wrong.

what would be the average price for a 335i active hybrid 2014 make with 50 000km ?

is it a better buy to just by a normal 335, or even a 320 ?

The G20 3 series will be a hybrid most likely, so I am sure there will be support. The hybrids are damn fast off the line. All that puts me off is they are only available in base spec.. Tough call, remember the new 3 series is out soon... That might play into your decision!

Its some great tech in there, but you have to be a proper tree hugger to pay the premium :fencelook:

Rather buy a normal 335i, or if you really worried about the Panda's get a 320d.

People struggle to sell those cars. There isn't much benefit for the premium that you end up paying; so unless you get an incredibly good price, just go for a standard model.

Had mine for 3 years now, no problems, serviced at Midrand they have Hybrid Section in Wkshop, guys seem to be up to speed on the Technology.
Car is fast and change over from electric to petrol is seamless.
You are welcome to contact me to chat, send me a pm.
Cheers,

i agree people don't want those cars, selling them will be a problem

just go with a normal 335 and do software on the car

I have one... Great car, no issues at all. Speed is incredible, automatic switch-over to petrol engine is seamless. Has a ton of extras as well and gets really good mileage on the open road. Did a trip down to Durbs last year and got a little over 800km on a tank.

the electronics used to run the electric motor are simple compared to what is used to run any modern engine... there are also no wearing parts on an electric motor

I would consider buying one and it becomes even more attractive if they are cheaper second hand because people are scared of them :smilebounce:

What happens when it comes time to replace battery pack? What is the expected lifespan of the battery pack?

very interesting question

I keep my cars for about 10 to 15 years, so I am looking for reliability
