So as the title suggests, on my way home this afternoon whilst driving on the highway, I was stuck behind a truck busy overtaking another truck.
After the truck finally managed to pass and turn back into the left hand lane, I fully pressed the accelerator pedal in order for the auto box to "kick back".
I suddenly heard something break and instantly took my foot off the gas.
Before I could even register what was happening, the pedal was fully down and stuck!! The car was absolutely flooring itself!! I immediately sat forward to pull the pedal back by hand, only to get held back by the darn seatbelt twice!!:argh:
Finally I managed to get it pulled back before anything bad happened and luckily there were no cars in front of the truck!!
And once again LUCKILY right in front of me was a garage on the R59 South to pull over and evaluate the situation.
After checking it out, the pedal is connected to a piece of round metal thingy at the back with a plastic type of hinge, and that's exactly where it broke off!! Why would the Germans make these things plastic in the first place?:dunno:
My only option was to bend the pedal over forwards and tuck it under the matt and drive home using only the thin metal part at the back that it is (WAS) attached to.
I don't even want to think what "could've" happened.........:nonono:
