ABS

Hey guys

After yesterdays incident, my wife swears that when she stood on the brakes, the car just skidded. Now I am not sure if it locked up completely, or if she was experiencing that typical ABS brake/release effect. She too is not sure what she experienced.

Other than just taking the car out on the road and standing on the brakes myself, is it possible that one can pick up an ABS issue by checking the fault codes on the car?

Jandre, ABS issues result in a light almost instantly.

The ABS pump does indeed have a memory on it, and I assume you will have the BOSCH ABS 5 pump in your car, it def does record it, but if the unit is faulty or has detected a fault it is likey that you would get an ABS light, not in all cases, but most times.

No lights at all, ever.

I am just going to strap me in and stand on the brakes.

Thanks LZ

I had to escourt a forklift through town to come and offload some pavers at the office, so after driving like 2km SLOWLY in 1st gear with my hazards on, I ended up with a bulb-out warning on a tail light and the ABS and DSC lights on. Afterwards when driving normally again, half a block later and all the lights cleared itself. Everything back to normal.

I just think that sometimes the ABS can be finicky, but like LZ said, it would rather throw a light for the simplest problem than not throw a light at all.
