they just started trapping when I got caught, and a month later they plaster 40km signs all over the road....

All roads around houses (suburban areas) are be default 40km/h, unless otherwise stated, so I don't think the signs only going up now will be a good defense.

Well, last time I checked at least.

Get the summons, go to court and state your case. Maybe they'll reduce the fine for you :dunno:

Jeez, if that's the case, cops should trap on my street everyday.

I drive 60km coz there's a school just up the road with 4 speed bumps but everyone always over take me no matter what time is it:nonono:

Down in George and Mossel Bay they hardly ever trap on the highways. But in the suburbs... Ha ha you better make sure you never go above 40kph. Those cops nail people there like you can't believe.

I have received 2 Notice of Summons to be issued, but no actual summons yet... both of them are over a year ago now... holding thumbs on the apparent two year mark where I can just dance t(-_-t) at a roadblock

SD33DYV is right, 60kph unless otherwise stated.

But then getting a notice of summons for doing 80 in a 60 zone seems a bit harsh. Isn't it usually a R1000 fine with R500 discount if paid within 32 days of notice...?

Chef, you're clearly not in the gardenroute area alot. Mossel bay they almost always trap on the N2 where they can sit in the middle of the road between two bushes so you only know they're there until you're almost next to them.

George they trap often on kaaimans pass (N2) (definitely spelled that wrong) and george probably has more fixed cameras than the whole of cape town.

In between knysna, sedgefield and wilderness on the N2 they have 3 of those small green boxes which they can move to various fixed locations apparently they trap both lanes. And then they have another camera sometimes used coming into knysna going around the lagoon, or just before coming into knysna around a downhill and a bend.

But on topic there is a camera in plett going down to beacon isle hotel, that is in a 40km zone (no houses on this road), I was told by a taxi driver that it was illegal to trap under 60 as it was an urban area and the camera only goes off after 60.

Oh and although its never happened to me they have trapped people in a closed estate for going over the speed limit I think it was 30 lol. Pretty sure its illegal. I would have made them give chase in my estate lol.

I remember the whole south road incident. I used to work just off south road. Eventually the resident fought back and they changed the road speed.

Kaaimans (spelled correctly) has fixed cameras, I know. One lane 60, the other lane 40.

I used to live there.

I know George has all those cameras, but the whole town is a 60 zone.

I was talking about the highways between George and Mossel Bay itself, in and around Grootbrak, Kleinbrak, Hartenbos, Herold's Bay etc. Only ever seen them trapping in the N2 during December, nailing all the vaalies on holiday.
