So Lew's Toureg got my all yes i still want one of those, i had my Gen1 ML Merc and i adored it, can't find a decent other model so i was left what do i want to go sling mud around it. And the answer was clear, i wanted a VR6 Volkswagen why, simply VR6 noises.

Up and down round and round, it would seem most VR6 equiped models are poverty spec.

Then this crawled up, not a VR6, but also about 50k cheaper than one and kitted.

A few niggles but then what i paid for it what is to be expected. Headlight shines to the moon, the other is dead (hoping it is bulb failure), passanger door needs a particular way of closing it so some fiddling there needed, the rear passanger door doesn't open form the inside and the speakers made the oddest noise.

But we have Porsche Command, sunroof, Xenons, steering controls, 4 zone climate, air suspension, privacy shades, towbar, memory seats and a few other things.

Wishing you many happy miles. The spec is very nice. Porsche air suspension is not as unreliable as others even on these older cars. The headlight is an easy one to DIY - should be a tool in the boot to release the whole cluster and you can check the bulbs and wiring easily.

Even if it fails place in Kempton swaps it out in 35min per strut for nothing.

Current rain is making working on anything meh.

It is sadly quite difficult to find these with high spec levels (and if they exist, they are with owners who will be buried in them). I just got to the 'berg in mine and it is easy to see why people don't often part with them. While it isn't a rocketship, there is still plenty of overtaking capability and it has a very nice cruising sweet spot.

I don't have bose, but have amassed nearly everything for a fairly nice sound upgrade coming soon :)

One of my neighbours has a set of rims like yours - been tempted to swap mine out since I much prefer them - but then if I follow some of the suggestions to do a transsyberia type thing, my rims are the ones to go with and would look better with AT/MT tyres 🫣 :ROFLMAO: . Another problem for another day though - for when my wife decides she wants an E3 Cayenne and this becomes another of 'my' toys.

Ahhh the joys of Porsh..... Volkswagen ownership. Those who know me, know i absolutely despise VAG products, but sometimes i make a exception for stuff with turbos and 5 Cylinders, perhaps a VR block, or flat engines hung out the arse those kinds of things.

Anyway

Went to pickup a friend at ORT and coming form the N12/R24 split i got the glowplug light indicator flashing at me, i giggled and said to my partner oh look VW things. Then power started ebbing away, gearbox did not want to downshift, pulled off the highway and ahhhh diesel smells. Limped to the airport petrol station and called the insurance to send a towtruck. A high pressure line between the two common rails sprung a substantial leak.

Off to Cafe9 this morning.

Extras.

Single Xenon lights
PDC
Sunroof
Memory seats
Airsuspension
Porsche command
Steering controls
Wheels
Factory towbar

That added quite a bit of $$$ to the base price.

1st owner lived in Paulshof and had some massive cycle shop
2nd owner was the head of the SAA Pilots union prior to Covid
3rd Owner EC based
4th Owner from the FS and had it less than a year.

So little update.

Front control arms need replacement (bushes and balljoints kaput) lets call that 15k
It has a sporadic suspension fault warning, but the system itself works just fine. Told to send it airshock center to deal with as it is probably a pressure sensor.
It has this horrible fuel pump sounding noise coming from the left or right rear speaker that comes and goes as you go over some rough roads. Can be a connection or the amplifier, worth fixing at this point meh.
Rear glass hatch shocks are kaput cheap in parts and half a year in stripping out the interior to get to them. I think this is for when i have patience since the amplifier requires equal and similar amounts of panel removal.
Having a spare key made is a bit of a nightmare as no one has casings and i can't be bothered to try and track one down currently.

Took it to Suncity in the beginning of the month, went flawlessly. Kept on having to back off past 150 on the openish stretches.
Drag raced my prius, lost. Turns out that 0-20 where 2 tons of German steel and turbolag figure things out the Prius as scooted off, but by the end of 3rd gear the Cayenne has built up a significant speed delta and is coming up fast. Partner claimed the win.

Seats are quite comfy, ride in comfort mode is superb, handles reasonably well given the offroad tyres, been used as a farm instrument a few times buying pavers and firewood etc. All in i think quite a suitable alternative to my old ML, better handling, similar space and comfort but i do miss the Mercedes 5Cyl diesel noises.
