Right so a friend of mine has got an Audi A4 1996 2.8. I got a e36 325 1995. Both cars is automatics. My car is stock standard except some 17 inch rims, and my friends car got a free flow pipe and 18 inch rims.
Now the thing is he wants to take me on in a drag race and keeps on saying that he will demolish me. Now i am not one for these robot to robot races or even racing my car overall. But he is getting on my nerves.
I drive my car very carefully, i also let it shift under 3000 rpms. Its got about 215k on the clock, so i am afraid something might brake if i rev it to high. Hes car got 205k on the clock.
So my question is: should i take him on?, can i rev my car really high? who will win?
Also i love my car and keep it in great shape, and like i said i dont really like revving it up like a maniac, is it buildt to take this punishment? My car has also got this button next to the shifter that says sport mode.
When i engage that, the revs stay nice and high and acceleration is greatly improved. Like the manual says "for a more spirited drive, and to call on the reserve power of the engine".
I get so many citi golfs or corsa's pulling up next to me at robots, revving it up and wanting to dice. But always i just ignore them. I think they see the rims and then think "another street racer, lets dice him"
Sorry for the long post, but maybe somebody can help me, or tell me what to do. My biggest concern is breaking something by driving in sports mode and revving it up. So if someone can help me that would be greatly appreciated.
