I don't think it was aimed directed at you, but more a remark based on what often is the case with premium used cars - in most cases pretty easy and affordable to buy, but it's the up keep that is not considered, and ultimately is then neglected until the car is then sold off to the next owner who then sits with problems. Again, a general remark and I doubt was aimed at you.

And nothing wrong with finding out and budgeting for this - in many cases you can save a little money by buying the service parts if you can get for a better price, oil for instance.
Very good answer - a fair one without being abrupt. Good advice I think.
