85mm vs 100mm Downpipe

Stick with the 3 inch dps for the N54, it's a tried and tested combo, you can't go any bigger in there unfortunately without some major redesign... The difference in volume between the 2.5 and 3 inch makes a lot of difference on the twin turbo motors

So 76mm it is. Scrap the 85mm and 100mm.
I would rather run that on my N54 coming from car that ran 11.93s and klapped the F80 M3 on the same day:praise::praise::praise:

76mm is for N54, O.P has the N55.

Have you seen the TMSS Downpipe for the N55.. it's :praise:

Thanks Rosh, was referring to Icemans N54.

So what would be the diameter to run for the N55 in Snip3rs case?

n55 stock/OEM goes from 3.5" down to 2.5". Most guys I think are using 101mm (4"). TMSS has some amazing looking DP's. All their stuff looks tops.

100mm!

Go big, or go home :cartel:

It all boils down to preference though. you could have a 200mm downpipe, but have restrictive oem piping after the downpipe which will negate all the benefit of having the larger downpipe to begin with.

on the n54, the only true 76mm downpipe is the AR design, you will notice that they have to taper down to 6xmm by the flange

The car was awesomely loud but it had an irritating buzzing tone at 1700rpm when you slow cruising in traffic
So i had to fit two 63mm resonator boxes in the middle. The performance has drastically Improved and with the DCT transmission you get a nice burble/fart sound between gear change "similar " to the gti's

Great stuff man! I have the same setup - N55 w/100mm DP, except that mine is a 135i. I put mine on the dyno last weekend and got 230kW and 456Nm so the DP definitely helped with the torque!
