So most will know I am busy with rstore of my 850Ci 91' .
Laguna Green with cream/brown interior.

Battled with a lot in the last year and last week a started on the interior. SmeLled like cheap cologne and nicotine, plus grimy and dirty.

So complete strip out to clean and repair everything.

Before.. and believe me pictures do not reflect how grubby this car was... Rooflining sagging, electric seats not working, pieces, clips, screws missing. Interior items non working...

after 5 days of stripping and deep cleaning and re-assembly. Much cleaner, but its the new car smell, fresh and breathable that really makes you want to drive this car

Sourced material for hoodlining, post covers and rear board. Busy glueing the new material and will post pics soon

Good stuff, I love these cars
Are you going to do the engine too as part of the refurb?

Sclass.. the original engine broke 2 pistons and damaged 4 bores. Thats where my trouble started. I had to buy an immaculate 750iL to strip for the engine, Engine bay was missing lots of covers and items, which have all been replaced. New discs, pads, sensors, tensioners, batteries, belts, suspension components, radiator, a/c rebuilt, so was the power steering pump and converted to newer gas, headlights, light covers, badges, etc etc all been done. New exhaust next and when more money comes then a full respray. Also new Bilstein Sport shocks in the rear and new ones for the front coming.

Sabretooth, carpet was cleaned with WAP carpet shampoo. Also used a chemical called VARI-CLEEN from Midas, cleans anything, similiar to Clean Green, just more potent. Finished all the leather with BMW leather Care. oh and LOTS OF ELBOW grease, very Importent together with patience

Keep in mind pictures are deceiving, although the seats ect were dirty and grimy they were not looked after so lots of scuffed areas and cracking, irreversible unless I have them re-dyed etc, but they are defiantly better now then before, at least I am not ashamed to show guys my interior anymore.

Meguiers.. I have heard only good things about their products. I am looking at using their paint kit, clay blocks and wax to clean and wax up the paint job. The paint is ok, but small chips and dings on the sides from car doors and the like. Also bumper, bonnet and fenders were sprayed by the previous owner, but a crap spary job. I am looking at re-spraying the whole exterior one day when I have money again. The owner had this glazing done, but its actually made it worse. I wanna strip the paint down and polish it up nicely.

One thing about the Vari-Kleen, water based, eco friendly but heleva strong. Leave greased parts overnight and it eats through grime and even paint and easy to wash off with plain water. Long term use stuffs up your skin and cracks your nails.. youre warned. Also test before use, in pure soltion it can stain parts clean. So work fast and little areas at the time, clean up spills and clean off with fresh water. I prefer it to parrafins and engine cleaners, avoid handy andy products, the ammonia is no good for leather and plastcis They leave oily residues behind, especially when you wanna paint parts, this stuff washes off and once dry can spray the parts immediately.

avoid handy andy products, the ammonia is no good for leather and plastics

Yah neh, PATIENCE!! It has paid off very well, I hope you aren't then going to sell the car...:fencelook:

You bought an immaculate E38 for the engine and still had to fork out more for suspension bits and other stuff??!! You just CANNOT sell this car when it's done Luis!!

You Luis, know how to pull off a proper restore! Hats off!

The car has come along way since i last saw it, dead and laid out in the fetal position....!

After all the time and effort, you couldnt sell this car...besides...I think you will have to go 12 rounds with the wife to pry it from her hands!

Enjoy the big 8....its the sexiest Beemer that i have ever seen....
