Yep '82 auto...with a few missing parts. Have purchased a 'rotten' '84 manual as a donor. What are your sentiments on an '82 with the newer spec dash, doorcards etc. Would also like to replace the rear bumper with the wrap-around from the donor. Comments....

Moranor Bought the donor car for the missing parts: front w/screen, wheels, brake disc's, radiator and hoses.
MikeR Abandoned as in the owner has had a breakdown and can't cope with life in general ....there is an issue of outstanding licence fees, but i'm not too stressed as these days one cannot recieve your disc for a vehicle if you have another which is in arrears/outstanding, so I'll just have to be patient.
Henery330i There are new radiator hoses in the boot, which may still have the p/n on them, they were purchased from the 'stealership'. I will have a look and post them if possible.

Always adored the 635csi, my landlord back then had a blue 1 with a cream interior the car was immaculate until he smashed it into a tree while drunk 1 day...so SAD, they towed it into the yard and i saw that car get perished by the weather month after month.

So this rotten 84... how rotten is it?

My first instinct is to tell you that nothing will fit and you should send me the 84:rollsmile:

My second instinct is to say rather try and fix the 84, but if she is rotten then that's off the card.

Swapping parts over between the two models may be more difficult than you think. While they look almost identical the underneath was totally different. I had a quick look at photos of my rear bumper and that area is very different to the 82. I have asked on the Big Coupe forum (the definitive 6 series forum)but seeing as you have both the best bet will be to just test fit it.

I will get back to you with the other forums response.

Good luck with the build, it is nice to have another shark on the forum!!!

Clownshoe The donor car has rust in the skuttle area below the left corner of the screen , a previous accident repair is 'festering' on the bonnet, nose-panel and the rad cradle is rusted beyond repair. The front bumper is also not original..think it off an older 7. My plan is to raid it for all the 'missing bits' and then either sell off as a complete unit or sell as parts. There will be a huge number of surplus trim pieces, lights, etc which will be needed by somebody.
