Should I use 95 unleaded petrol in my 1981 635csi?

My understanding is that any old car with an aluminium cylinder head will be able to run unleaded without any problems as the ally heads already have harder valve seats in them. The cars with Cast Iron heads are the ones that have to run on LRP or have the heads modified to run unleaded. If this is correct, then you should be fine running on either

So this thread had its last activity nearly a year ago...What petrol have you been using and how is it going?

Hi Guys

I've got an early 1985 528 , essentially the same m30 engine, but does mine have an aluminium cylinder head?

Should be fine on either, 95 just keep an ear out for pinging, octane might be a little high for that car. I use only 93 in my 530 1976 with no additives or issues

If memory serves me right.. passenger side, i think with cubby hole open.. remember the hood doesn't pop on the front but at the windscreen. You then need to lift it up. The lever only release the lock.. when closing you put the bonnet down and push the lever and it pulls the bonnet into the lock position

Ah yes. I was not quick enough to stop a salesman slamming the bonnet on a 635 i was looking at. :RedNo:
